Looking for Crowd Extras for BBC Drama ‘Shetland’

On Sunday 8th July there is to be a recreation of the 'Up Helly Aa" festival for a new BBC crime drama set on Shetland. The production company is looking for volunteers who would like to be unpaid crowd extras in these scenes and would like you to get in touch.

'Shetland' stars Douglas Henshall of 'Primeval' fame and is based on the Shetland Quartet crime novels by Ann Cleeves.

The drama features the Up Helly Aa Festival as a backdrop to a thrilling cat and mouse chase between detectives and suspects. With the assistance of the UHA Committee and the Guizar Jarl squad they will be recreating the proclamation at Market Cross, the march through Fort Charlotte and the lighting of torches at Lower Hillhead.

They require people throughout the day from 3pm to 2am and are looking for people of all ages (although please note that any children under the age of 16 need to be accompanied by aparent/guardian/chaperone over the age of 18).

If you're interested and available for all or part of the day please contact them at shetlandextras@gmail.com
